Here is Oh La La, isn't she adorable? Jeez.. I gotta stop saying that.. I say that about them ALL!! She is available from Funky Kits HERE, her pretty rose and all.
This is a pretty simple card - in the sense there aren't many layers, or embellishments. It wasn't labour intensive at all, but I really love the effect.
I started with a light grey cardbase using textured card from American Crafts. I then went ahead and stamped a flourish-ish (what would you call it..?!) image from a SU! set in Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing power. One of my fave techniques, I don't know why I don't do it more - the results are always gorgeous. I then took a design card from a sheet of patterned paper in My Minds Eye MeadowLark collection pack. I thought the sentiment complimented the image perfectly. I matted it onto some PTI Pure Poppy cardstock, distressed the edges and stitched around it. I rounded all corners - simply because that is 'my thing' with my WRMK Corner Chomper!
Next up, I coloured (or is it shaded when it's black and grey?!) the image using my C Grey ProMarkers - a bit of a change from my normal lead pencil and Sansodor, but I kinda like it. I then took some liquid pearls and went over the buttons on her boots - very cute.
Last up.. the very few embellishments I used. Some white seam binding and red bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl tied in a fancy bow and a lovely heart charm dangling from them. Then a lovely two tone mini rose from Wild Orchid Crafts which I have covered in Frosted Lace Stickles for a little something extra.
Thanks for stopping by today!! xo Lou.

Fantastic Lou! Wow, I really like the effect too! Great idea to place an actual rose in there! Super job!
ReplyDeleteThis is fab...think I might have a bash at the grey tones!
ReplyDeletetis gorgeous- good luck with exams and job hunting xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Lou, love the monochrome look. xx
ReplyDeleteChandelier maybe> Well, a stunner & beautifully different. I love your little buttons on her boots & theat flower is a stroke of genius. Doesn't the heart charm pick up the scrollwork of the flourish nicely & I love your combination of seam binding & twine. I too like rounded corners but am so angular by nature.
