Pat On The Back

Hi Simply Sassy Fans!

For my Friday Inspiration post, I have used Carnival Balloon from the set 6 release. I have LOVED her since I saw a sneak peek from Tracy on the DT way back when. I finally colored her up and put her on card. She's definitely a favorite - perfect for a birthday card I think which I will be using her next for. I was experimenting here with some white space as you can see....I'm not sure what I think quite yet. I love the effect when I see it on other cards/layouts but I'm addicted to my big panel of pattern paper still! haha I think that balloon is DESIGNED for paper piecing - SO cute and fun to add even more colorful paper to my project. I loved coloring her with copics and unfortunately, I made this card about 2 weeks ago and did NOT write the colors down before putting my markers away!!! You can see I've paired her up with more Echo Park For The Record Collection *giggle* Geez, I seem to get stuck on one paper collection and design the heck out of it. I do have other papers.....

Thanks for stopping by today and if you haven't had a chance, PLEASE take a look at my corner bookmark video tutorial from yesterday! I had so much fun putting it together and would love your feedback...Like should I do more?? Cuz, I think I wanna ;D

Supplies:
Stamp: Carnival Balloon Simply Sassy
Paper: Echo Park For The Record Collection
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellishment: Make it Crafy Laser Chipboard Filligree Jewels

Tuesday Spotlight on

This Tuesday we have a pleasure to spotlight Sassy fan
And she has got a gorgeous card for us made wit the sweet
I just love the beautiful colors and pretty coloring.

Start by telling us a little about yourself:
I am a Scot living in North London, married to my soul mate, have two grown-up kids and two wonderful young cats. I suffer from Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck and have had recent major surgery to try to delay the degeneration process. I am also an Ovarian Cancer survivor and a strong believer that ALL women need to be aware of the symptoms of this horrid disease. Details on my blog under Ovacome website. I enjoy crafting, walking, gardening, reading, listening to music and the theatre - especially singalong musicals where I can get up and dance along too!

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I have only been card making for about three years so am relatively new to this addictive craft! I only came across it by chance - I was off work ill with a long-term degenerative condition and was channel-hopping, discovered Create & Craft and was addicted. I no longer follow the channel but cannot get thru a day without a crafting fix and some blogging.

What is your preferred Colouring medium?
Easily seen to be my Promarkers but, with the help of the fabulous Kerrie (Pickle), I am hoping to get into Prisma pencils very soon. I think several Simply Sassy stamps would love to be coloured by these pencils.

What is your favourite Simply Sassy stamp?
I simply cannot answer this question as they are all stunning - I have to say tho that I am LOVING the look of Set 7 - slightly more grown up look about them so more suited to 'the older woman'! Lots of the SS stamps remind me of when I was in my late teens and dressed in those long hippy skirts that collected all the dust from the pavements!

How did you first notice the Simply Sassy stamps for the first time?
I am a keen follower of Funky Kits and Sugar Nellie and just happened upon them one day I was browsing there.........my home town is actually where Funkykits are located so the added bonus is that when I go home soon, I will be able to visit the HOS and stock up on them all!!

 What is your favourite style?
I don't think I have a favourite style as I like to try new things from time to time, so I tend to make the cards to fit in with the stamps/images that I use. These Simply Sassy stamps are ideal for 'playing' with and look perfect on a 'busy' card or a Clean and Simple card.

What would you like to see more of on the Simply Sassy blog?
Well....I think there is a Simply Sassy Challenge on a certain social network site that I refuse to visit so I would love to see a regular challenge here so that all us Simply Sassy followers could play away the hours getting ideas from one another because isn't that what crafting is all about?

I would just like to add a MASSIVE thank you to Maria and the girls for letting me be in the spotlight today - it is a huge pleasure for me and a great honour too!

Sheila:)X

Dream, Imagine, Love

Hey Sassy fans!! Thank you for stopping by today!! How has your weekend been so far? This is my VERY FIRST post EVER as a GDT member for Simply Sassy!! I’m SUPER excited.. so let’s get started – but please.. go easy on me, heehee. I am literally in LOVE with the Sassy images, and there are only a select few which I don’t own. I knew as soon as I seen set #6 demonstrated in the blog hop I had to have them all..
The Sassy girl I have used today is ‘Carnival Balloon’ and she is a newbie (like me!) from set #6 available HERE at Funky Kits. I LOVE her dress and the flowers in her hair; she is so versatile and could be used for a number of occasions. She is perfect for summer, with a ‘Carnival’ scene behind her; she’s a gorgeous image for girly birthdays as well as inspiring cards – which is the theme I have gone with today.

I have used Basic Grey Max and Whiskers collection to add bright colours to the card. My flower embellishments are a mixture of Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts. I have used a few rub ons from the Max and Whiskers collection along with some brown waxed twine and lemon organza ribbon. I have stamped ‘DREAM’ using a Studio G alpha stamp set and the ‘IMAGINE’ tag is from a Tim Holtz Philosophy Tag pack. I’ve used an orange grommet along with a brad from the Max and Whiskers collection and a spacer from The Ribbon Girl.

Here is a close up of the Sassy girl, I have coloured her using ProMarkers and paper pieced part of her dress and balloon. Such a neat technique – I should do it more.

Supplies:
Stamps: Simply Sassy – Carnival Balloon; Studio G Alpha; SU! Music Notes standard wheel Ink: SU! Soft Suede; Memento – Tuxedo Black Paper: Bazzill – Kraft cardstock; Basic Grey – Max and Whiskers PP Embellishments: 5mm gemstones; Prima flowers; Wild Orchid Craft rose, Max and Whiskers rub ons and brad ; TH Philosophy Tag; orange grommet; silver spacer; brown waxed twine; linen thread; lemon organza ribbon Tools: WRMK – Corner Chomper; Fiskars – Apron Lace border punch; pinking scissors; 1” circle punch ProMarkers: Skin: Ivory, Blush, Saffron, Baby Pink Eyes: Cornflower, Midnight Blue Hair: Vanilla, Cocoa Flowers in her hair: Pastel Blue, Duck Egg, Mango, Mandarin Clothes and Shoes: Pastel Blue, Duck Egg, Denim Blue, Tulip Yellow, Mustard, Pastel Yellow Mango, Mandarin Balloon: Pastel Blue, Duck Egg, Denim Blue, Mango, Mandarin

Simply Take a Note

Good evening Sassy peeps.  I hope you've had a wonderful day so far.

For my post today I decided to make a little notepad holder, rather than a card.  I always keep little notepads around to jot things down in, so why not have a pretty notepad?  I used Carnival Balloon on my notepad holder and colored her with copics and colored pencils.  I used some Stardust stickles on the flowers in her hair, and on the hearts on the balloon, her dress, and her shoe.  I stitched my image onto some BoBunny paper and then adhered this to the front of my notepad holder.

You've probably seen the instructions for these holders all over blogland, but in case you haven't I'll share how I made mine.  My notepad is 3" x 5" and I cut my cardstock 5 1/4" by 8 1/2".  If you plan to carry your holder in your purse, make sure you use the heaviest cardstock you can find.  Score your cardstock at 3/4", 4", 4 3/8", and 7 5/8".  Adhere the two flaps on each end to the inside of the holder.  Place adhesive on the back of your notebook and adhere it to the inside of the holder.  I use Scor-pal tape because it's very strong.  That's all there is to it.  OK, I know Christmas is a long way off but I think these would make cute little stocking stuffers.  Or how about one of these cuties for one of your child's teachers?

If you haven't seen Autumn's post from earlier today, be sure to scroll down and check it out.  Don't forget we'll have a fabulous tutorial to share with you tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp:  Sugar Nellie Simply Sassy - Carnival Balloon  (which can be found at Funky Kits)
Paper:  Bo Bunny, Marco's
Other:  Copics, Caran d'Ache and Prismacolor pencils, gamsol, Stardust stickles, Scor-pal tape, 3" x 5" notepad

carnival balloon

Happy friday to all of you! It´s a holiday today - for sure not only here in Germany - but that doesn´t mean we are having a break from inspiring you...

My twins will turn 10 next tuesday and of course they asked for a birthday card. I let one pick the image for her sister´s card - and Natascha wanted me to use

Carnival Balloon

for Pia´s card.

She´s just perfect for that age - designed in this wonderful and kid´s friendly style but yet sassy and not too much for those "babies" as my girls would call them now that they are going to
be 10. LOL And with this big balloon birthdays were the first occassions I thought of when I saw this image.

I tried to match my coloring the look of my girls. Pia has brown hair and blue eyes and so this is what this cute little Sassy Girl needed to be colored. I used these markers:

image: Sugar Nellie, available at Funkykits only
paper: K&Company, Magnolia, others that I don´t remember anymore
garland and round sentiment: Whimsy Stamps
flourish die: Quickutz

I am wishing all of you a wonderful easter holiday with lots of colored eggs and chocolats!

Sneaky Peek #2.....

Hello Sassy Fans today I present you with....

...'Carnival Balloon' Isn't she a doll!!! Oh' I had so much fun coloring her! I suprised myself with this color combo, but I knew I wanted to use yellow...think all this Easter stuff is getting to me and I was further inspired by these ....

...MME Fine and Dandy True Blue Papers. I also tried out some clouds for the first time here, so they're not perfect, but I'll keep working on it. I kind of just made it up as I went a long and they're a mix of copics and chalks. The grass is also a mix of copics and chalks. As for the rest the beads/charms as well as the ribbon are from my stash and the punch I used is MS.

Here are my copics.

As always if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for stopping by and please be sure to stop by later and see what Anita has to show you!

Have a great day!
