Tuesday Spotlight..

This Tuesday we have sweet

This post is quite a long one.. so go grab your cup of coffee or tea because you don't want to miss this girl..
I asked her to make something new for the Spotlight
She has made us this fantastic cupcake, card and door-hanger ♥♥♥
+ I've grabbed some gorgeous cards from her blog too..

Don't you just want to eat that cupcake???

And a yummy card that matches the cupcake♥♥
Image she's using on the card is Sundae service

and a gorgeous door-hanger using Tiffany
Any girl would love having this on their door ♥

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I am a 35 yr old wife & mother to 3 children. Funny when one asks to say a bit about themselves, we start with our age.....weird eh? I say eh, as I am from Canada (Manitoba actually) and I DON"T live in an igloo. My children are 10 yrs (girl), 4 yrs (boy) and 20 mnth old (boy). I also work as a part time Registered Nurse. I craft til the wee hours of the morning, so no one can bother me. haha! I'm sneaky like that!

*When did you start card making and what made you start?

Uhh...I blame it all on my neighbor & BFF. There I was merrily making my scrapbooks when she pops over and says "OMG you have to see this card I just made at card class".....the same card class I said NO to in the first place. Well, I was hooked. That was **thinking**.....2008.
One thing led to another, first came SU, then CTMH, then digis. What the heck was a 'digi'....EEK!!
Then I found blogland and well, the rest is history!

Using Lost in Thoughts  and Skater Girl

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I color my faces and, as of recently, hair with copics. My copic selection is meager. LOL I gave hubby my Christmas list already....."copics"....done! I also color with watercolor pencils, blending stumps and baby oil. Nope the baby oil does not get the paper all oily. The blending stumps (dipped in baby oil soaked sponges) carries the color so nicely..my heart skips a beat just thinking about it. Not quite sure what I mean?....can't really picture it? see this post HERE on my blog.

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
oooo.......hhmmmm.........like just one?!! Well, since I only recently got addicted to them & I drool at each of the DT creations.....geesh...I'd have to say "High School Student".....& I don't even own her!!! Funny right?!! I thought the "So What" girl from the last set woulda got me, but rather my fave from that release is actually "Tiffany".

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
Donna Mosley. Yup. She was in the spotlight here & I thought "hey, that's a nice stamp"......what the heck am I missing right? One hop led to another hop & boom.....here I am! Buying each new release. (Another Christmas present list item) heehee

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
Embellish, Embellish, Embellish. Rule of thumb......if all else fails, embellish. No style imparticular, I like to try everything at least once including 3D items. In fact this is the first time I have attempted to make a cupcake! lol LOVE IT!! And just when I thought I came up with the cupcake idea all by my lonesome, I remembered seeing Kathrin's SCRUMMY sundae dish a short while ago!!
See....inspiration has seeped it's way into my brain!

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
hhmmmmmmmmm.......boy cards. I seem to be drawn to boy images & stamps. They are the first to catch my eye. Oh & my Sassy on the header......I'd love to see THAT everyday I visit!! LOL
(I'll just keep trying out like every other die hard Sassy Fanatic)!!

Thanks so much for spotlighting me. This truly was a HUGE honor! Mwah!

Thank you so much Corry for letting us Spotlight your gorgeous cards

back to school

Hello and happy friday dear Sassy fans!

School will start again next tuesday for us here in Bavaria.
In today's post I want to share a special little treat - but first I have to give you some general informations about the german tradition of "school cones". Here each kid gets one of these on their very first day of school/1st grade. They bring them with them to school and after the first day has ended they are allowed to open them.
These are big and filled with candies, toys and usefull stuff for school. This tradition excists since at least 200 years and was meant to make their start at school extra sweet.

Here's a pic of my twins on their first day - just to give you an expression of the real size of these...

So, this was 5 years ago - but now my girls have to change school and enter high school. And we thought it would be nice to give them another school cone as it is kind of another very first day at school. But they will only get a small one this time, about 12" high.

So, which better stamps to use for decorating them than

High School Student

and

Team Spirit!

And this is how they turned out:

I bought two of these already decorated but the only ones I was able to get that day were light blue ones with dinosaurs allover. So I used some white acrylic paint to cover these.
I added some paper strips, stamped little stars in very light color over the paint and added some die cut letters and numbers.
The text is german and means "have a great start at the new school".

And here are two close ups of the "centerpiece" of the cones:

These were made quite fast and simple but I know my girls will love them (and the content of course LOL)!

I used these Copics to color the images:

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday Spotlight

This Tuesday I want to Introduce you to sweet

And she made us this gorgeous card

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I am thirty-something, married with four lovely children. I've always been crafty since as far back as I remember. As a child I'd sit for hours at the beautiful wooden desk my Dad made for me, making, painting, cutting and sticking. But my love of card making began almost 8 years ago. I wanted something to give me some 'me' time once the kids were in bed. I bought a small card making caddy and the rest is history!

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I have dabbled in various colouring mediums such as water colours, Distress Inks, and Prisma Pencils. I really like Promarkers but I absolutely could not live without my Copics! I LOVE them to bits and take them everywhere with me....even on holiday!

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
I couldn't chose just one favourite Simply Sassy stamp, my favourite keeps changing! Right now It's 'Windswept' & 'Team Spirit', but I also have a soft spot for 'Missing You'. I just love her little face...it reminds me of my youngest daughter after she's been told off.

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I have been a follower & fan of Sugar Nellie since day one, and first saw the Simply Sassy stamps on the Sugar Nellie blog. I must admit, I tried to resist them for as long as I could. I am a bit obsessive/compulsive when it comes to stamps. Once I start on a set, I can't rest until I have the whole collection. I did surprisingly well for a good while....but caved in eventually when the temptation became too much!

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
My favourite style of card making is 'embellish it till there's no space left!'....is that a card making style?

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
The Simply Sassy Blog is great as it is, but I really enjoyed looking at the entries for the Header Comp....so maybe some 'just for fun' mini challenges where Sassy fans can share their inspiration?

Team Spirit

Good morning Sassy fans!! Welcome to your new Monday inspirations! We're all sad to see Tracy go, but wish her the best of luck! I(Autumn) will be taking over the Monday morning posting so here is my inspiration for today...

Here is ' Team Spirit '.  I hope this pic is ok. We recently got a Mac laptop and that's what I'm using while I'm away and they looked really blurry in the iPhoto program. Anyway, i've paired this lovely with some beautiful new Prima papers I recently got and colored her as best I could to match...this took some real blending, but I think it turned out pretty close. I had to leave it kind of simple on the outside because I wrapped her border with ribbon and I made it one of those half easels...

I really love the mix of color in this paper and I was even able to get that beautiful sentiment from the 6x6 paper stack. Those flowers are WOC and the pearls are from my stash.

Here's a closer view of those colors. I love the look of the ribbon wrapping, but boy does that add some dimension making it a little hard to decorate around.

Well, that's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

xxAutumn

Team Spirit

Happy friday everyone! Nice to see you today.

For today's inspiration card I used

Team Spirit,

one of the wonderful stamps from the newest release.
She's so wonderful to color and I love the fact that you can make her match to any school by using the school's colors for her dress.
Here in Germany schools usually don't have a special color so I decided to go with blue and white.

I put some glitter on her pom-poms and of course stars were the perfect way to embellish this card. You're my star would have been a great sentiment for this too - but of course this is something I didn't come up with when I made the card so I may add that later.
I also put some rhinestones on here for some extra bling.

The coloring was done with these Copics:

I'm wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!
