Hello sassy friends. I have a little tutorial to share with you today. I have some friends with daughters that will soon be graduating from high school. So I thought these little gift bags would be perfect to hold a little graduation gift or maybe a teacher appreciation gift. Or fill it with yummy chocolates and give it to a friend "just because".
I will apologize in advance for all the pictures. I'm sure I have included way too many but I would rather share too many than not enough :)
Here are the supplies you will need to make this gift bag:
Cardstock
Scor-pal or other strong adhesive
Scoring tool
Punches or dies
Embellishments (optional)
Start by cutting a piece of cardstock 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". This will be the base of your gift bag. Score 1" around all 4 sides and then score in the points of the 4 little squares. My base is red but I'm showing you the score lines on white paper so that you can see them better.
Crease all of the scored lines like you see in the picture. Bring the corners to the inside of the little box. Use adhesive to secure the corners.
Add adhesive around the sides of the box.
Cut a piece of cardstock 6 1/2" x 11". This will be the giftbag. Apply adhesive to one of the 6 1/2" sides of the cardstock.
Remove the adhesive backing from the sides of the box and lay the box along the bottom edge of the 6 1/2" x 11" cardstock so that the edges are even. You will be wrapping the 11" side of cardstock around the base of the box.
The 6 1/2" end with adhesive will be the last part of the cardstock you will wrap. When you get to that end, remove the adhesive backing and finish wrapping the cardstock.
This is what the gift bag will look like now.
Cut a strip of cardstock 1" x 11". You can use a decorative punch if you like. Apply adhesive to the strip and then wrap the strip around the bottom of the gift bag.
You can use either nestabilities or punches to make your top closure. I used my circle nestabilities to cut two circles and then I applied adhesive to the bottom half of the circles.
Adhere the circles to the top of the gift bag. You now have a way to close the gift bag.
You can add any embellishments you like to decorate your gift bag. I decided to make a tag for mine. I used Oh La La and colored her with copics and colored pencils. I added her to a tag and used some twine to tie the tag onto the gift bag.
I hope you will give these gift bags a try. They are so easy that you can make one up in no time.
Thanks for stopping by today.
