Something for the boy's

It's time for a new The Sugar Bowl challenge,
This time it's lovely Cathy who has made a sketch for us.
And the option this time is  'Out Of The Ordinary'
And those who know me know that I don't make many boys cards or anything..

So when my brother had birthday I decided to make him a gift bag to put his present in,
so this is my  'Out Of The Ordinary'
I have used our Sassy boy No 1 fan
The papers are from Basic Grey, the cloud is a Magnolia die
and the die behind the Sentiment is from tickled Pink
The boy is colored with Copic markers .

The prize this week is 4 stamp for one lucky winner or 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries..

Boy oh Boy...

Good evening Sassy Sisters!
(I like that, do you think it will catch on?)
Today I thought we'd have something different, and go all manly...
well....sort of... ;)

 I've used No 1 fan
just look at his cheeky little face!! I LOVE him!!

Did you know he can come and live with you for just £4.29!!!
then you can pinch his little cheeks as much as you like!!
And all your Sassy girls will adore him ;)

I do love making cards for boys and men, and lets face
it, we all HAVE to do them from time to time...
Sometimes its tricky when you can't use your ribbons and flowers... but I find you can embellish just enough with cool alphabet stickers and funky accessory stamps.... there are LOADS out there...
even just adding the tabs of scrap paper at the top and bottom made a huge difference in pulling the card together...

Sorry I'm rambling...
You can find more information about this card over on my blog

Before I go, there was a question from Ali on my cloud tutorial about whether or not to 'seal' the chalking to prevent smudges...

I actually don't, I haven't had any smudging problems, but there's no reason you can't, if you think the card might be excessively handled.
There are spray fixatives out there (I'm not sure I'm allowed to say the brands)
most art stores will sell them, they will also work for pencils, charcoal and pastels.
(and they also help prevent fading, which might be another advantage)

hope that helps!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Tuesday spotlight..

This tuesday we have one of our brand new sweetie's over at the Sugar Bowl
She has made this gorgeous Sassy card for us

About me...
My name is Fiona, I am married and have 2 children,
Michael 19 years old and Holly 13 years old...going on 25 though!!
I work in the HR department of a large entertainment company and have done for the past almost 12 years.

When did I start making cards...
I have been making cards for around 5 years when my friend introduced me to it as we were both involved with Children and Youth work at that time and that was one of the activities that was planned...so i have been hooked since!!

What is my preferred colouring medium..
I do like to try different things however I love my copics but I am practicing with Distress Inks which I absolutely love but still practicing, I also have promarkers which I use now and again for a change.

Favourite Sassy...
I have to say my favourite Sassy was Hippie Chick, then it was Fashionista and now I think it's Butterfly Girl...but I do love each of them!!

How did I notice Sassy's for the first time...
I have been a follower of The Sugar Bowl from when I first started blogging but I think I first spotted Sassy's for the first time was on Debbi's blog....

Favourite style...
I'm not sure if I have a favourite style as I like a range of different looks but not that I can mange them all but I have to say I like lots of layers, stitching and my punched flowers.

What would i like to see more of on the Sassy blog...

I think the Simply Sassy is fab the way it is, it provides great inspiration to us all and if we have any questions regarding anything that has been posted, whether it's regarding products that have been used or colouring techniques then it's good to know we always get an answer...so well done Sassy ladies!!

Tuesday Spotlight with Elaine

For this weeks spotlight I  have Elaine.
She is one of the Sweeties over at The Sugar Bowl and
former design team member at Sugar Nellie
And it's her coloring of Hippie Chick on the blog badge in the sidebar ;)
So be sure to stop by her blog for even more Simply Sassy inspiration.

Elaine made this gorgeous card for us

Start by telling us a little about you:
I live in Lancashire with my husband and our teenage son. I work as office manager for an Air Conditioning company. I like the job but unfortunately it doesn't leave me with much spare time for crafting!

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started dabbling about 5 years ago, but very sporadically. I really got hooked Christmas 2008 when my Dad bought me a lovely pile of rubber from Sugar Nellie which started my Sugar Addiction! I started card making after I saw someone demonstrating on a shopping channel and I remember saying to my hubby that it was a hobby I could try and I was sure it wouldn't cost much...ha!

What is your preferred colouring medium?
Definitely Distress Inks. I started off with Polychromo pencils until my Sugar Mama Gayle suggested I try the DI's since I already had them. I saw a fab tutorial on Jacqui's blog (Cats Whiskers) and I found I loved colouring with them.

What is your favourite Simply Sassy stamp?
I love all the Sassy stamps but if I really had to pick a favourite it would be either Bella Bunting or Fashionista.

How did you notice Simply Sassy stamps for the first time?
They were my first DT stamps from my brief but wonderful time on the Sugar Nellie DT.

What's your favourite style of card?
My style is very simple! I have boxes and boxes of embellishments but I still prefer to keep my cards simple and I hope the image remains the main focal point.

What would you love to see more of on the Simply Sassy blog?
Tutorials.

Over at Elaine's blog I found these gorgeous cards
but please stop by her as there are so many to choose from..

 Using Luv A Latte

I know Elaine will  love any comments you may leave her.

Spotlight on Debbie

This week our spotlight is on Sassy crafter Debbie
I know a few of you wanted her in the spotlight :)
I had already asked her but Debbie is a busy crafter, but as Karen told me a few months ago , good things come to those who wait.. and as with all my Spotlight girls I asked then to make us a brand new card.
Look at this stunning card Debbie sent me!! WOW!

I also ask the girls to answer a few questions:

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I live with my partner , son and 2 daughters on the NE coast of Scotland.
I’m self-employed and also run a small support charity for parents and carers of children with additional needs as well as being the Letraset Product Coach for Scotland and I do the odd demonstration and classes here in the NE of Scotland

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started card-making back in 2007 and then moved onto scrapbooking in an attempt to make baby books for each of my children. Then in January 2009 I fell in love with a Sugar Nellie stamp I saw on someone’s blog and was hooked, that’s when I started stamping and when I bought my very first promarkers.

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I’m a promarker girl through and through but have been known to use Aquamarkers on occasion and I have a sneaky wee set of Martha Stewart colouring pencils that get an airing once in a while.

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
I think it would have to be Pillow Talk, there’s just so much attitude in that pose and she personifies “Sassy”, she’s a dream to colour and is perfect for teaching colouring techniques with.

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
Because I’m a huge Sugar Nellie fan and I always keep an eye on what Karen brings us.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
I don’t really have a “style” I like a challenge and I’ll give most things a try, but I do love to work from sketches when I’m making cards, it takes the hard work out of it for me and leaves me free to get creative. But I am very inspired by some of the girls who have made CAS an artform.

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
I’d love to see the occasional competition or challenge,
maybe every time there’s a new release? Pretty please?

I have also been snooking around in Debbi's awesome blog and found these amazing cards:
 Using:No 1 fan

 Using: Fairy tale

Thank you Debbie for letting us Spotlight you.
I know Debbie would love any comment you may leave for her!
