Tuesday Spotlight

This week we have a very sweet crafter called
Joyce with us...
I had not seen her pretty cards before my friend Elaine showed me her blog.
Thank you Elaine for finding her for me ♥
And wow does she make pretty cards ,tags and mini books!

Here is what Joyce made for us

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I am Joyce 33. Married to Lars and together we have 2 beautiful kids. Randy 5 and Duncan 3.
I work at a store where we sell garden furniture and Spa's.

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
When Randy was about 3 he loved to make things with paper and coloring
and at the time i started to scrapbook.
Then my neighbor showed me how to make cards with stamp and all these little things on them....
oooh my i got the addiction...And now i craft almost every evening

Using City Girl

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
i started with prisma pencils but when i discovered copics, there was another addiction......

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
i LOVE them all, that is a really hard choice. But when i have to pick one it would be "Lost in Music"

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I saw them on the club "Kaarten maken met Tiets" it is a Dutch forum about card making.
And when i used one of of the stamps on a card i fell in love with them

Tuesday Spotlight

Hello Sassy fans today we would like to put the spotlight on....

I asked Janette to make a card for us and she came up with a real beauty for us...

Using: Strike a pose, Lost in Music, and Pillow Talk

Here's a little about Janette and some wonderful cards from her blog:

Start by telling us a little about you:
I am a work from home mom to three rowdy boys. With a very
supportive husband that doesn't mind me spending time with my crafts;
I think this will be the case until he finds out how much money goes
into buying paper and stamps...Hehehehe I am of Mexican descent and I
love my Mexican culture!

Using Strike a Pose

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started making cards to swap with my two cousins and sister. I had
never ever had done a card before; but it was fun and i really enjoyed
it. We did one card a month; but as life often gets in the way the
swap ended almost a year ago now. After having my third son and being
in a new home where I have my craft/office room I am way into making
cards and can't stop!

 Using Apple of My Eye

Using Pillow Talk

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
This is an easy one; Copics by miles!

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
I will have to say Pillow Talk since she was the one that caught my
eye and is the stamp that I have used the most out of all of my
stamps. I think that if I had Retail Therapy she would be a close
second; poor baby is still on my wish list!

Using Lost in Music

Using Pillow Talk

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I saw them on Autumn's blog and I think she is one of the first blogs
that I began to follow. I just fell in love with the BIG hair and
eyes.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
Hummm this is a toughy; I don't think that I really have a defined
style other that I like to try new things. I like doing 3D projects
and love to embellish til I cannot embellish no more:0)

Using Pillow Talk
*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
I love the blog the way that it is! The only thing that I would love to
see more boy stamps(cuz I do have 3 of them) and cowgirl/cowboy images
would be a dream come true. I have told Krista this already and am
patiently waiting for that day; I know it will come!

Thanks so much Janette for letting us Spotlight you and your gorgeous creations and for letting us get to know you a little better!

Simply Striking ;o)

Hi Sugar addicts! For today's inspiration post I have chosen the delectable Strike a Pose, which seems to be temporarily out of stock over at Funky Kits, small wonder I guess as it's such a gorgeous and, again, very versatile stamp!

I have used the sketch from Pink Ink Sketch Challenges and for the style I have tried to emulate our very own Maria Therese, hope I did a good job there ;o). It's just fun to try something different every once in a while, I know we all have our own style but it's not good to get stuck in a rut is it!

Card Ingredients:

Stamps: Simply Sassy "Strike a Pose"; sentiment from Creashop Duymelot
Paper: Elzybells Arts Stamps cardstock kraft; My Mind's Eye "Blush"
Embellishments: Papertrey Ink ribbon; Kars pearls; Prima Marketing roses
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Oval and Scalloped Oval; EK Success Retro Flower punches; Heidi Swapp paper distresser
Copics:
E00, E51, E93, E21 (skin, cheeks)
Y28, E53, E50 (hair)
R85, R83, R81 (pinks)
G21, G20 (greens)
E41 (stockings)

Right, that's all from me this Sunday, hope you have a great day, thank you for stopping by and I'll see you next week!

Hugs,
Erica

Strike a Pose

Hello Sassy Fans!
This is my last post...

No, don't worry, it's just the last one I am able to check if everything went up correctly because we'll leave for our summer vacation beginning of next week. So I am going to schedule the next friday inspiration posts and hope Blogger won't play up again.

Today I have made a tag. I used

Strike a Pose

here.
To me she looks like she created her dress on her own and is now proudly presenting it. So I used some sewing elements to decorate the tag but also a film strip die cut to fit the model in her. I liked the black and white color mix for this image but also wanted to add a little color so I did the rose in pink with a natural green leave. To put the image and the tag together I only used a pink rose and green leave as colorful embellishments and combined those with some black lace and a scissors charm.

For the coloring I used these Markers -
the E04(1) color is a lighter shade of E04 that I made myself. You can see here how to make your own custom Copic colors.

So wishing you all a wonderful rest of august and see you in september!

Strike a Pose!

Hello Sassy fans and welcome to another wonderful Sassy Day! Today as you have figured out, I'm sure, I've used the wonderful Strike a pose(Funky Kits is not coming up for a link right now, but I'll try again later, sorry) and followed the current sketch over at the Sugar Bowl and I've come up with this...

Sugar Bowl Sketch

I was orginally going to use the City Girl image to give you all something different, but after i had her all colored up I messed up the background and had to cut her and and then she didn't work, and to be honest I wasn't completely thrilled with the card anyway, so I decided to color up Strike a pose and much prefer how the card came out this way.

The optional theme at the Sugar Bowl is lace and so I added that and even made a flower with some and broke out my feathers and put a few of those in there too...I think they're quite fitting.

Here's a close up of my girl. I do find that coloring in black can be rather difficult for me, so I hope she turned out ok...the hair is probably the hardest part, but I wanted to do something different. I added  some stickles the her flowers, but left the rest of her glitter free.

That's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
xxAutumn

Tuesday Spotlight...

This Tuesday we have sweet Lisa in our spotlight

And she made this beautiful card for us ♥♥

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I’m Lisa, and I live in Sheffield with my husband and 2 young sons – oh, and one spoilt cat :o)

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I've always been fairly crafty, starting out with knitting and embroidery as a child. Then 4 yrs ago, after a normal full term pregnancy, we had a stillborn son. For a few months I went to pieces, work (kindly) offered me voluntary redundancy as I couldn't have gone back and eventually I needed something to fill my days while our eldest son was at school. I wandered into Hobbycraft, picked up a card making magazine and the obsession began! I think I was convinced making my own cards would actually save us money, but I dread to think how much I've spent over the years! Cardmaking has kept me going though when I've had some very low days, so it's been worth every penny, and I now have a great 'hobby' that I don't think I'll ever get bored of.

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I nearly always colour with promarkers, but I often add a bit of shading using koh-i-noor pencils.

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
That's a really difficult one! I like lots of them, for all different reasons, but I do have a bit of a soft spot for Bella Bunting.

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I’m going to be totally honest – when I saw the first set of Simply Sassy stamps on the Sugar Nellie blog, I wasn’t sure if I liked them!… however, once I’d seen them around blogland for a while I fell in love with them and bought all of the second set when it was released.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
I love all different styles, but I’m a fairly CAS cardmaker myself… I really admire people who make beautifully embellished designs, because they just don’t come naturally to me at all.

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
I think it’s just right as it is – lots of lovely regular inspiration and I love that Simply Sassy fans get a chance to be in the spotlight too.

I want to show you some of the beautiful Sassy card from her blog too, but you need to go over there and see the rest for your self ;)

 Using Luv a Latte

Thank you so much Lisa for letting us Spotlight you and getting to know you ♥

Please leave Lisa some L♥VE
