a sassy bookmark

Hello sweet sassy friends!
Well, the weather is getting colder and it's getting dark really early so is there anything better than snuggle on the couch with a blanket and read a good book? I love those winter evenings and all that's missing is the sound of the fire from a fireplace - unfortunately I don't have one so I have to imagine this.LOL

But to make reading even more fun I created a bookmark using on of the first Sassy stamps available. Unfortunately it is not up on the webshop at Funkykits at the moment so I am not able to give you a link
but the name of this cutie is Romantic Dreamer.

I made a paper rosette with quite flats pleats so the bookmark will fit in a book. I added some cheesecloth, some punched flowers, some distress ink and a few rhinestones.
The paper rosette was made from 2 square pieces of cardstock, folded every 1/8". Then two ends of one strip of folded cardstock have been put together to create a half circle - later the two half circles were brought together as a whole circle.

The back of my bookmark isn't too spectacular - I just used a large paper clip and only fixed it at the very top part so the bottom part still moves and a paper can be put in it.

Here's what I used to color the image in:

Now I'm wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Tuesday Spotlight

Hi, me again with another fabby spotlight for you! This week we're featuring the amazingly talented Lis, I simply fell in love with her colouring, isn't it gorgeous! Here's what she has to share with us:

Using Party Frills

*Start by telling us a little about you
I am forty-three, I am married to John . I have 2 daughters and 2 step-children. They have all left home now, so I get a craft room ..yay!
I work, dispensing medicines in the local doctors surgery. It can be very stressful, and the days are long.. so crafting is my way to unwind.

*When did you start card-making and what made you start?
I have been card making for over 10 years now.. I purchased a few things from the shopping channels and the rest they say, is history....
I think the intention was to make cards with my young daughters... but for me , it become a passion...
I am a true rubber stamp lover... and I love all things girly and sweet..

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
Well... that's tricky to answer.. I had a few prismas.. and wasn't too delighted with the results .. then along came Promarkers.. and I had to have a few Copics.. and I had to have a few Spectrums.. I am a real "marker tart" ! lol!

Using Romantic Dreamer (not in stock at the mo')

*What is your fave Simply Sassy stamp?
Another tricky one... I love so many of them.. I do love party frills , and i love Pillow talk... I really need to get a couple of Christmas Sassy's next.. All wrapped up is a must....

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I bought Gorjuss stamps from funkykits many moons ago.. as I LOVE Gorjuss.. I have lots of Gorjuss stuff...lol! of course, blog hopping I came across the Sugar Nellie blog.. and instantly fell in love with Sassy's...

*What is your favourite card-making style?
I don't know if I have a style that I like most... I love beautiful papers and I love beautiful images to colour... I can spend hours just colouring...
So my style tends to be shabby but neat.. if that makes sense..?
I am a neat freak.. even when I try grunge and distressed....lol!

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
All I can say is... keep them coming.. I love all the inspiration from the DT.. I love the hops... one day I will be lucky and win a candy..lol !
I love it all... you can never have too much .....
and you get to share with all the lovely girlies out there in blog land...

Using Pillow Talk

Tuesday Spotlight on..

I am so happy to announce that our Tuesday Spotlight this week is

She is a former designer at Sugar Nellie and I have been following her blog a long time.
So I was so happy when she said yes to making us a card, and answering our Q&A.

On this gorgeous card she has used Party Frills

 About Me:
I live in Houston, Texas with my hubby and best friend Tom.
I have two wonderful children Alyssa (21) and Wade (18).

I started card making several years ago after going to a Close To My Heart demonstration and was blown away with what you can do with a stamp and an ink pad! It was so much fun I decided to become a demonstrator. I enjoyed teaching cardmaking and scrapbooking for 7 years. I had to give it all up for a while though due to the age of my kids, but now that they are older I have time to play again.

I switch off on my favorite coloring medium between copics and distress inks. I love both of them and it just depends on the card as to which one I chose to use.

My favorite Simply Sassy stamp is “Party Frills”!!! …….What personality this stamp has with the little tutu and the pouty look on her face! She is adorable! I became addicted to this cute line of stamps while I was working on the Sugar Nellie Design Team.

I don’t think I have a favorite style of card making. Since I tend to get bored easily, I am always wanting to try new things tee hee! I will admit that I have a love of special fold cards and cards with motion even though I don’t always have time to make them.

The Simply Sassy blog is fantastic! There are so many great ideas on here! This is such a great place for inspiration! I love that there is a wonderful mixture of projects and cards!!! I am honored to be a guest in the spotlight. Thank you to the design team for having me!

It was such a treat digging into Dena's blog finding cards to show you,
and I wish I could put them all on here but to see all of her Sassy creation you must pay her a visit :)

Okay that was a few more sample's than I was planning but who can blame me?
Just go over to her blog and have a look..

Thank you Dena for letting us Spotlight you!
I know she will love any comment you will leave her!

Posh Bookmark

Morning Peeps,

I have chosen to make a bookmark today for a change and have used "Romantic Dreamer" which comes as a set of two, along with "Lost in Thought".  If you didn't know already Krista drew these characters based on the characters of the book Twilight, which incidentally is the book in the picture below.  I have read them all now and thoroughly enjoyed them, thanks to my son for getting me into them....

I cut the shaped panels on my Cricut using the Stroybook Cart.

I used 3 layers and then used both the circular nestie and oval nestie and applied some perfect pearls around the edges.

I have coloured her using copics and prisma's.

A few flowers and voila, clean and simple for me don't you think.

Ingredients:-

Image "Romantic Dreamer" by Sugar Nellie availabele from Funky Kits HERE
Panels cut on Cricut using Storybook Cart
Papers by Nitwits
Martha Stewart Leaf Punch
Perfect Pearls
Flowers and Ribbon from Stash

Don't forget the Simply Sassy Blog Hop on Saturday at 10:00, See you there.

something old, something new, something blue...

Happy friday to all of you! It´s me, Kathrin, and even if you might expect it after reading the title of this post this is not a wedding related post. ;O)

Today I want to share you an all BLUE card using one of the OLD images. Okay, I don´t really think you can talk about this being old but at least it´s from one of the previous releases.
The name of this stamp is

Romantic Dreamer

and she´s not coming all alone. No, she brings her cool friend Lost in Thought, that I used on the boy card in this post.

I used these Copics to color the image:

The papers are by Magnolia, DCWV and K&Company and they go perfectly with the Marker numbers I picked. I added two flowers, the big bow, some half pearls and the charm was the perfect find to go with the image. As I needed something to surround the image but wanted to keep the focus on the images instead of the decoration I went through those boxes I have all over my room and found that swirly silver stuff that is left over from christmas... In Germany we call this angels´ hair but sorry, I don´t know the english word for that. I rolled the ends between my fingers to make it stay together and attached it under the flower petals to my card by putting there a little glue dot.

So, what about the NEW stuff you might ask - here you go:

I made this card using

Hippie Love

about 2 weeks ago for a carnival themed challenge.

The colors I used are quite unusual for me but when I think of the 70ies I think of orange and green so I decided to give these a try. And - surprise - I like the result! These are the Copics I used for the coloring:

The papers are by First Edition Papers and My Mind´s Eye and I used my computer to make a matching sentiment.

So, that´s it from me for today - make sure to come back since there will also be a post from the wonderful Kellie later today.

Enjoy your day!

Tuesday Spotlight with Elaine

For this weeks spotlight I  have Elaine.
She is one of the Sweeties over at The Sugar Bowl and
former design team member at Sugar Nellie
And it's her coloring of Hippie Chick on the blog badge in the sidebar ;)
So be sure to stop by her blog for even more Simply Sassy inspiration.

Elaine made this gorgeous card for us

Start by telling us a little about you:
I live in Lancashire with my husband and our teenage son. I work as office manager for an Air Conditioning company. I like the job but unfortunately it doesn't leave me with much spare time for crafting!

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started dabbling about 5 years ago, but very sporadically. I really got hooked Christmas 2008 when my Dad bought me a lovely pile of rubber from Sugar Nellie which started my Sugar Addiction! I started card making after I saw someone demonstrating on a shopping channel and I remember saying to my hubby that it was a hobby I could try and I was sure it wouldn't cost much...ha!

What is your preferred colouring medium?
Definitely Distress Inks. I started off with Polychromo pencils until my Sugar Mama Gayle suggested I try the DI's since I already had them. I saw a fab tutorial on Jacqui's blog (Cats Whiskers) and I found I loved colouring with them.

What is your favourite Simply Sassy stamp?
I love all the Sassy stamps but if I really had to pick a favourite it would be either Bella Bunting or Fashionista.

How did you notice Simply Sassy stamps for the first time?
They were my first DT stamps from my brief but wonderful time on the Sugar Nellie DT.

What's your favourite style of card?
My style is very simple! I have boxes and boxes of embellishments but I still prefer to keep my cards simple and I hope the image remains the main focal point.

What would you love to see more of on the Simply Sassy blog?
Tutorials.

Over at Elaine's blog I found these gorgeous cards
but please stop by her as there are so many to choose from..

I know Elaine will  love any comments you may leave her.

A boy's card by Maria

I have to admit I've never really liked making boy's cards.. I just love the pink and purple and the lace and doilies.. I even gave my husband a tag on his Christmas gift with a girl on...
And when Karen sent me set 3 of the Simply Sassy's with 3 boys in the guy's were not the first to be inked..
But then I had to make a card for my Husband's birthday (he refuse me to use the word 'hubby' as he have seen on so many other blog's that I've left open on the PC he says he's not my hobby)
Well anyway my husband needed a birthday card and since he told me he only get pink cards with girls on I had to ink up one of the guy's.. And this is the result.. To my surprise I don't hate making boy's cards anymore..
I really enjoyed making this card ♥
And to my friend Elaine's big fear I don't mind there coming more Sassy boy's in the future (Yes Elaine I had to mention you..)

I'm terrible at remembering what exact colors I've used for coloring. Yes I know your spoiled by Tracey yesterday getting to know every marker she used.. So the short version is that I use Copic Markers for coloring and Prisma color pencils for the shadowing.
The paper I've used is from Basic Grey -Marjolaine collection. I also used corrugated cardboard that I distressed with Distress Ink- brushed corduroy.

The cool boy is called 'Lost in thought' and you can find him here   together with Romantic Dreamer that I've used on this tag

For this tag I've used Papers from Maya Designs and the December calender sheet I've made in PhotoShop and printed out. Also used Copic Markers and Prisma color pencils for the coloring.

I hope there is many of you out there who have decided to try out for the GDT search. I know it will be hard to choose but I love seeing all those Sassy creations out there in your blog land.. Remember you need a Simply Sassy stamp to enter. Not only because I want to see how you color these Girls/boys but so that I know you are a Simply Sassy fan like me...

I will be back this Thursday to show off my Sugar Bowl card ♥♥
