A Sassy Fashionista!
Monday, 22 August 2011
My Last Post Here
Sadly this is my last post here on the Simply Sassy site. I hope I have brought inspiration to you all over the last 8 months and if you don't already follow my blog and you like my work, that you'll make your way over. I've enjoyed my time working with the Sassy's and of course Maria and the Girls have all been fab and thank you to Karen for initially inviting me to contribute on the Sassy Site. We will be staying friends and also teamies, as I am on a couple of DT's with Maria and Kathrin, and of course I will be popping on here too to leave some love.
I have inked up one of my favourites and an oldie in the Sassy range, Fashionista, and I have also followed Maria's sketch over at the Sugar Bowl.

Tuesday spotlight..
Hello, My name is Bridget, and I live in the wonderfully picturesque county of Cornwall, with my Patient Husband, our Malamute Buzz, and our two cats Nala and Jasmine, I have lived here all my life and I can't see myself living anywhere else, apart from maybe Scotland, the land of The House of Sugar.
*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I have always had an interest in art, but I have never been able to draw well enough to share with other people, so when I came across the craft channels on TV, and I saw the beautiful things you can make, it inspired me to have a go at making cards, at first, using Rubber Stamps, and then onto the many other forms of crafting, I then progressed onto blogging, about 18 months ago, and my eye's were opened even wider, by the stunning creations that I came across.
*What is your preferred coloring medium?
Everything....... lol, well, it depends on my mood, but I do go through phases, I might use Polychromes for a while, or Promarkers, but my favourite of favourites at the moment are copics, in particular sketch markers, I just love the range of colours you get, and the professional finish they give you, it makes you feel like you've accomplished something when you have finished your project,
I have just gotten hold of a set of Prismacolour pencils, I haven't done much with them yet, its a work in progress, but I do love the finish they give you when using them on Kraft card, so more to follow on that, lol...
*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
Well how can I answer this question, I love them all, and I have all apart from 3 of them, but having thought long and hard about it,
I am going to have to say Amelia and all of the new Christmas stamps, lol, this is the most difficult question of all, lol.
*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I first noticed the Simply Sassy Stamps, when Karen introduced us to Krista's artwork on the Sugar Nellie blog and I have been hooked ever since.
*What is your favourite style (card making)?
I don't think I've really got a favourite style, I do like clean and simple, but I also like to see lots of embellishments, so I don't really think I have a specific style, I like to change things a lot so not to get bored, I like shabby chic, though I can never seem to produce a very good end product.
*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
This is another hard question to answer, because it's difficult to improve on perfection, because I think you girls already do a fantastic job, what with all the fun blog hops, brilliant tutorials and wonderfully inspirational cards, so I had a really good think about what I would like to see added and that would be a Simply Sassy Challenge blog.

Tuesday Spotlight on..

I live in Houston, Texas with my hubby and best friend Tom.
I started card making several years ago after going to a Close To My Heart demonstration and was blown away with what you can do with a stamp and an ink pad! It was so much fun I decided to become a demonstrator. I enjoyed teaching cardmaking and scrapbooking for 7 years. I had to give it all up for a while though due to the age of my kids, but now that they are older I have time to play again.
I switch off on my favorite coloring medium between copics and distress inks. I love both of them and it just depends on the card as to which one I chose to use.
My favorite Simply Sassy stamp is “Party Frills”!!! …….What personality this stamp has with the little tutu and the pouty look on her face! She is adorable! I became addicted to this cute line of stamps while I was working on the Sugar Nellie Design Team.
I don’t think I have a favorite style of card making. Since I tend to get bored easily, I am always wanting to try new things tee hee! I will admit that I have a love of special fold cards and cards with motion even though I don’t always have time to make them.
The Simply Sassy blog is fantastic! There are so many great ideas on here! This is such a great place for inspiration! I love that there is a wonderful mixture of projects and cards!!! I am honored to be a guest in the spotlight. Thank you to the design team for having me!

Simply Boxed Up!

I started by making the lid, simply follow the sketch and cut and score where indicated, you should end up with something like this:
Cut the DP to size, I cut mine 0,5 cm (or 0.2") smaller than the cardstock panels
Right, time to make the box, just follow the pattern, cut and score where indicated, decorate four of the panels with DP (I folded the box the way I wanted it first, then marked the four panels that needed to be decorated with a pencil cross)
Now you have a box to go inside the lid. Put some double-sided tape or glue on the bottom of the box and glue it on the center panel of the lid. Mind the measurements, the center panel and the bottom of the box are not square!
When you've done all that, you should have a box that looks similar to this:

I've made the wrap from a 30,5 x 4 cm (12" x 1.6") strip of cardstock, wrapped it loosely around the box and the scored the lines. Decorate it with DP, add a lovely Sassy girl, some blooms and pearls and you're done :D!

Tuesday spotlight on..
*Start by telling us a little about you:
I married my high school sweetheart 10 yrs ago and right now I am a stay at home mom to 3 amazing kiddos. My oldest is in kindergarten, my 2nd is 4 and my youngest is 1 yr. They definately keep me busy but I somehow manage to find time to stamp and color in between! Besides stamping, I love to read any chance I can - mostly fiction. We live in Colorado right now, but I grew up in Florida. In fact, I'd never lived anywhere else till I moved out to Texas when I was 18 to live with my boyfriend now hubby!
*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started about 2 yrs ago. I went to a LSS that was having a Stamping Bella release party with make n takes. I met Angela who introduced me to Copics, bought my first pair E00, E21 and really the addiction hasn't ended! When I found out you could COLOR stamped images, well, I knew it was going to be a life long relationship! I had always loved coloring as a kid, had tons and tons of coloring books and those big boxes of crayola's with every color imaginable. After that, I realzied that stamping and card making made me HAPPY! I love sitting down with a black and white image and seeing it come to life with color. It's like magic and it's good for the soul!
*What is your preferred coloring medium?
Definitely, hands down, COPICS!!! I love that these markers make anyone look like a coloring genius!!! It's like the adult version of my Crayola's as a kid. :D
*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
That is an impossible question to answer! I honestly love them all. I really adore Luv A Latte because I'm a serious coffee drinker!! The card I made for today's post is my FAVORITE! But I really can't wait to get my hands on new favorites like Bad Hare Day, Windswept & Hippie Love!
*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I do believe I blame, or, credit my Make It Colourful DT sistah Tracy for this new obsession!!! When I saw them on her blog I just HAD to have them and I think I bought my first Simply Sassy stamps that day or the next.
*What is your favourite style (card making)?
This is a question I do NOT know how to answer! I think I am starting to find my own style now after 2 yrs of experimenting and something I have admitted recently is that I am one chick that is ridiculously addicted to pretty pattern papers! I love picking out my paper and coloring an image to match! One thing that I am seeing a lot on my cards is distressing - I love tearing the edges of my paper and inking them to add texture to my card.
*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
I actually love that you have an inspiration only blog! It's awesome to come each day and see a new DT member sharing a Simply Sassy stamp. I also love that you spotlight your fans - it's the ultimate compliment!
It was so much fun digging into Carisa's blog to show off some gorgeous Sassy cards!!
